As 2012 draws to an end we are filled with a deep sense of gratitude, since it has been your continued support that has taken Saffron Marigold from a concept to a viable small business. Five years into this exciting journey, we are still standing, growing slowly but surely, and savoring the fact that our work feeds more than just our souls!
Today, we wanted to take the opportunity to introduce you to the people behind Saffron Marigold. Many people are surprised to learn that we are such a small team. Our team is made up of 3 full time and 5 part time contributors who are whole heartedly committed to our guiding principles:
- Offering one-of-a-kind hand printed linen at affordable prices
- Providing exceptional customer service
- Practicing fair trade
A big “Hi” from all of us! In the spirit of the holidays, we welcome you to our discounted Shipping promotion that will run through the month of December.
We are often asked why we don’t offer deep discounts and promotions. Our reluctance to take the discounting route is based on our philosophy of Fair Trade. To us, Fair Trade means being fair to the three parties that make our business possible: our customers, our artisans, and ourselves.
For our customers, we price our products so that the mark up affords us enough margin to keep the business running with a keen focus on keeping the prices affordable.
We ensure that the artisans employed in our studio earn wages that are higher than the prevailing standard and have a clean and comfortable working environment.
Finally, we also ensure that all of us are adequately compensated and that the business makes enough profit to make the whole venture sustainable and worthwhile. And motivating. To that end, here are a few things we are excited to announce for the holidays.
